Why You Should Use Blue In Your Home More

Collaborative content

Ask someone what their favorite color is, and the majority of them will tell you it’s blue. This is not too surprising. Blue is associated with peace and tranquillity. It’s the color of the sea and the sky. It’s soothing and cooling.

Yet despite all of this, we don’t tend to use it as the main focus of our home décor. Perhaps it’s time we changed that. Here are some reasons to use more blue in your home.

It’s A Good Alternative To Black

Navy is the darkest shade of blue, so you can use it in your homes instead of black. It looks just as dramatic as black, especially when used on walls, but there is a hint of color to it, making it a little more homely. Add touches of silver and patterns to make a room feel lighter and more elegant and to keep it from feeling too dark.

Like black, navy blue needs light and texture to come to life in your home. Make sure to add reflective surfaces, like metallics, and play around with different textures and patterns from the floor, fabrics, and other things. Remember that lighter colors reflect light, and darker colors take it in. Layers of lighting at different heights will help draw the eye around the room so that it doesn’t look like a dark black hole.

Blue Is Good For Your Health

Blue rooms have been found to lower blood pressure and heart rate. Also, living in a blue room has been shown in multiple studies to help people who are depressed, which goes against the saying “feeling blue.” Almost nothing can stress you out in a blue room. And you may well sleep better in a blue bedroom too.

The blue color neutralizes melatonin levels, which is a hormone that makes us feel sleepy. Because of this, it is a stimulating color in the morning, and a calming and relaxing color in the evening when we are attempting to wind down and go to sleep. So when you’re looking for painting and decorating expertise, blue is the color to enquire about.

Blue Is Timeless

It goes without saying that blue and white together make a room feel clean and neat, whether it’s a bedroom or any other room in your house. It’s a color scheme that works well in nautical rooms, but with the right accessories and textures, like cotton bedding, it can also look modern and fresh. It’s a winning combination that’s always been in style.

Blue Is Extremely Versatile

There are a lot of different shades and tints of every color, but it will be hard to find a soothing red or a jolly gray. Blue, on the other hand, can be anything. Add a pale blue to your space to take the edges off a corner, choose a dramatic blue for a strong look, throw in a bright blue for a big pop of color, or stay with a neutral shade for an inviting wall color.

Blue is also the best color because it goes well with almost every other color you can find. For example, blue and white together, but blue also looks great with bright colors that can be hard to work with (like orange or green) and with different materials, like wood and metal.
