For example, in a hallway, rather than having items dotted along the side, having them tucked away safely in the corner doesn’t just mean they are out of the way, but if you’ve got children that like to run around, it’s less likely they are going to hurt themselves.

Take inspiration from warehouses and start to store items upwards rather than across. This isn’t something you’d like to do in every single room but there’s a lot of benefits to storing items upwards, especially those things you seldom use but you need access to. For example, any items in the kitchen, such as the tableware you only use on special occasions, can be stored safely above your kitchen cupboard. When we start to store upwards, it makes for a less cluttered space.

Something that we don’t always see anymore, but is so very useful! When you think about how much space your duvets take up, putting these into a vacuum bag and sucking all the air out of it makes it small enough that it will slot easily under your bed or in between cupboards and closets.
Think About the Extra Space in Less Obvious Places
While there’s plenty of space under your bed to store items, you can go one step further and create a whole extra opportunity for storage space. For example, if you have space between the floorboards and the ground underneath the property, this is the perfect opportunity to create underfloor storage. This is an absolute lifesaver if you’ve got children that like to play in a living space but you don’t have the time to pick up every little item. All you need to do is simply sweep the toys into this underfloor storage and you can hide it away!
There is a place for everything in your home, and even if your home could do with a bit more space, the solution involves being savvier with your storage so you can make the most of your surroundings!
